KVKK & Data Protection
The What If Movement operates from Turkey, so personal data we process may fall under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 ("KVKK"). This notice summarises, in plain language, how we handle personal data under the KVKK. It complements our Privacy Policy.
1. Data controller
For the purposes of the KVKK, The What If Movement acts as the data controller (veri sorumlusu). You can contact us at hello@thewhatifmovement.org.
2. What we process and why
We process limited personal data such as your email address and the content of messages you send us, and, for the member area, the email used to sign you in. We use this to respond to you, to operate and secure the Site, and to run the Project. We keep collection to a minimum.
3. Legal grounds
Under Articles 5 and 6 of the KVKK, we rely on grounds such as your explicit consent where needed, the necessity of processing to provide a service you requested, and our legitimate interests, provided your fundamental rights are respected.
4. Transfers
Where we use service providers (for example hosting and email delivery), personal data may be processed on their systems, which can be located outside Turkey. We take steps to ensure such processing has an appropriate legal basis and protection consistent with the KVKK.
5. Your rights under Article 11
Subject to the KVKK, you have the right to:
- learn whether your personal data is processed, and request information about it;
- know the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly;
- request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data;
- request deletion or destruction of your data within the limits of the law;
- object to outcomes produced solely by automated analysis; and
- claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing.
6. How to apply
You may submit a KVKK request to hello@thewhatifmovement.org. We will respond within the periods set by the law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
7. Updates
We may revise this notice as our processing or the law changes. The "last updated" date shows the latest revision.
